Did you know some turtles can breathe through their butts?
Maggie knows, and to her utter horror, she just blurted out that fact in front of the most beautiful woman she’s ever seen.
In a small north eastern town, Maggie has built a life made of books and friends and so, so many muffins. But as much as she loves her bookshop and her cat, there’s still something missing. Then one day, an absolute smoke show walks through the front door and throws Maggie off her – arguably, very small and unreliable – game.
Parker’s entire life blew up a few months ago when she walked in on her long-time girlfriend, ahem, securing a raise in her boss’s office. When a new job presents itself, she jumps at the chance for a fresh start, making the decision to avoid romance altogether and build the life she wants this time, not sacrifice herself for someone else’s desires. But then she finds the most alluring, adorably nervous woman standing behind the register of the local bookshop and all her plans change. But she’s over a decade younger than Parker and has a really hard time finishing a sentence around her.
While Parker tries to gently tempt Maggie out of her shell, a pompous, masc firefighter walks in and Parker realizes she might be helping Maggie open up to romance for someone else.
